Students from Years 7- 12 attended mass at St Stephen’s cathedral for the 2017 launch of Project Compassion. Project Compassion is Caritas Australia’s annual Lenten fundraising and awareness-raising appeal. It is an extraordinary, ongoing demonstration of the faith, love and generosity of the Catholic congregation and caring supporters throughout Australia to help end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity. Project Compassion demonstrates how love for our neighbours can transform lives this year.
Students were involved in pancake races after mass and attended a formation session to assist them in their fundraising plans. Our annual Bake Sale for Project Compassion will take place 8th March. As well as being an important fundraiser it is a great community event in which our Houses compete for House spirit points. Students who attended today’s launch were filled with enthusiasm and shared many ideas for raising funds and raising awareness throughout the term.
Caitlin Day, Social Justice captain received the scroll of commissioning and commitment on behalf of our College community.
