Our College Opening Mass was a wonderful celebration of what it means to be part of a Catholic community. Celebrated by Fr Jojimon Thomas the spirit of the celebration was all embracing. The words of the opening hymn, come as you are, that's how I want you, come as you are feel quite at home reflected the very meaning of what it means to be part of the St Peter Claver College community; that is to welcome all to our table.
It was a beautiful celebration of our community in which we welcomed all back for another year together. Fr Joji blessed the teaching staff and the College Seniors and Student Leaders were commissioned, blessed and anointed by Fr Joji to strengthen them in their leadership roles.
The College Captains shared their vision for the year ahead. They encapsulated this vision in four words: Unique, United, Engaged and Empowered.
We are a unique community made up of diverse cultures, backgrounds and ages. Our gifts and abilities are expansive. This makes us a dynamic community.
Our relationships unite us as we seek to build strong connections with each other across all year levels - in our Home Classes, in our House gatherings, at College events, in our classes and extra-curricular involvement. We get to know each other.
We are engaged in life and learning. Life is good, learning is good – it makes us stronger and wiser.
We empower each other to reach our full potential. As we reach for our own goals, we support others in reaching theirs. These are the values we stand for at St Peter Claver College.
