5000 Reasons to Celebrate Our Inter-House Bake Sale Success

Cupcakes, biscuits, slices, cake pops, fudges and other sweet treats were just some of the delicious baked goods and treats on sale as part of this year's annual Inter-House Bake Sale.

On Wednesday 1 May 2024 students from all year levels and Houses turned out in droves to support the charity fundraiser, with Fisher House declared the overall winner.

An incredible $5000 was raised for Micah Projects Domestic and Family Violence Services.

Micah Projects provides a range of free and confidential services for people who are experiencing or are at risk of domestic and family violence.

Campus Minister Alice Dwyer said the annual Bake Sale is a much-anticipated event on the College calendar for both students and staff.

“We are always so proud of the effort and enthusiasm by the students for this event and this year was no exception. The House spirit and charism of our community is witnessed in full force at the Bake Sale," she said.

Assistant Principal – Religious Education Angela Ryan said in the Catholic tradition the month of May is dedicated to Mary, our Good Mother. This coincides with May being Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month in Queensland.

“We held our Bake Sale on the first day of May this year and chose to donate our profits to Micah Projects Domestic and Family Violence Services. Inspired by Mary, we challenged ourselves as a community to take this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of women," she said.

“We put our faith into action and all funds raised from the Bake Sale have been donated to Micah Projects to continue their valued and important work with women and families experiencing family and domestic violence."

We want to extend a massive thank you to our community for their generosity in baking and donating a phenomenal amount of delicious treats in support of such a good cause. Thank you also to our Student Leaders and staff for organising the event, and to everyone who purchased a treat.
