The sports program at St Peter Claver College features in a number of competitions throughout the year. Our main competition is played through two seasons, Summer and Winter. This is called CISSSA which stands for ‘Combined Ipswich Secondary School Sport Association’.  The College nominates to compete in a variety of sports such as Touch Football, Futsal, Rugby League, Netball, Basketball and many more sports that are offered. The teams then compete against all schools in the Ipswich region that are part of CISSSA. This is what is commonly known has Interschool sport.

Players who strive to compete at a higher level in their sport are given the opportunity to trial at a District Trial (Ipswich Independent District – IID) and if selected then go on to trial at a Met-West level where they have the opportunity to compete (if selected) against all other regions in Queensland in State Championships and possibly be selected to represent Queensland and then Australia. Many students have used this avenue as a pathway to develop a career in sport.

At St Peter Claver College students are given the best opportunities to push their sporting talents above and beyond the ordinary. They are assisted by experienced staff who put many extra hours into helping the program run effectively using high quality facilities.  The program places importance on each player achieving to his full potential, as an individual and as a team player.
